GameGuard is keeping me from connecting!

Contents

There are a number of things that can cause GameGuard errors:

1.  The files that GameGuard requires to run may have been deleted and/or corrupted. Delete the GameGuard folder inside your 9Dragons directory (default: C:\9Dragons) and then re-launch 9Dragons. GameGuard should automatically download and update the files necessary for it to function.

2. If internet connection is restricted due to security programs(firewall), GameGuard may not be able to update.
 - Please turn off unnecessary options in your security program while running GameGuard.

3. When connection to the GameGuard update server is not possible due to external firewalls.
 - Most public places and companies use firewalls. Connections to the game server or the GameGuard update server may be restricted due to these firewalls. Please consult with your network administrator.

4. Internet connection problem.
 - If your internet connection gets disconnected frequently, please check if you need any sort of authentication process before connecting to the internet.

5. When you have a proxy server on
Open an internet explorer window and in the menu go to [tools] - [internet options] - [connections] - [LAN settings]. Check whether proxy server is on and if it is, please uncheck this option.

If none of these steps worked for you, there may be an issue with the GameGuard servers that will hopefully be fixed soon. Refer to the following FAQ for common GameGuard error messages:
